Surprise Medical Plaza at The City Breaks Ground Surprise Medical Plaza at The City, an $8 million project, broke ground this month. The project is comprised of a two-story 35,400-square-foot medical office building located at 13995 W. Statler Blvd. in Surprise, AZ. Banner Health Primary Care has pre-leased approximately 75 percent of the office building, including most of the second floor and about 5,500 square feet on the first floor. View article…

Vestar buys Las Vegas development for $79 million Vestar Development has purchased the District at Green Valley Ranch outside of Las Vegas for $79 million. Phoenix-based Vestar is partnering with New York-based Rockwood Capital in the all-cash deal. According to a press release, this is the second-largest commercial real estate transaction in the Las Vegas area in three years. View article…

New-look McDonald’s opens in south Scottsdale McDonald’s this week is unveiling a newly designed restaurant at a south Scottsdale corner it has occupied for 33 years. As a part of McDonald’s Forever Young campaign, the Scottsdale staple at the southeastern corner of Indian School and Hayden roads was torn down and rebuilt in the new style, a $2.5 million project. Global Dental Science bringing 150 new jobs to Scottsdale Global Dental Science LLC is opening a manufacturing facility at the Scottsdale Airpark and expects to create 150 new jobs in the next year. Clifton Gunderson, LarsonAllen to merge into Top 10 accounting firm Two national accounting firms with a major operations in Phoenix are merging, with plans to target privately held companies as new clients. Minneapolis-based LarsonAllen will merge with Milwaukee-based Clifton Gunderson to create a 500-partner firm called CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA), the tax, accounting and audit firms said Tuesday. US Airways drops offshore call centers, hires 150 in Phoenix US Airways Group Inc. has shifted its reservations and customer service call centers back to the U.S. from offshore locations, including the Philippines. The Tempe-based airline (NYSE:LCC) says that it has brought 400 call center jobs to Phoenix; Reno, Nev.; and Winston-Salem, N.C. The airline hired 150 new workers in Phoenix and 200 in Winston-Salem as part of the move. View article…

Apartment Sales Volumes Remain Strong Despite economic uncertainty, the apartment transaction market remained strong in the third quarter, according to New Yorkbased commercial real estate research firm Real Capital Analytics (RCA). Overall, the quarter posted sales volumes of $13.3 billion, though the rate of growth slowed to 4 percent, which wasn’t a surprise given seasonal adjustments. Cap-rate compression also accelerated, falling by 140 basis points. View article…

Phoenix’s payroll ranked No. 14 in U.S. Phoenix had the 14th-highest private-sector payroll in America in 2009, the latest year for which figures are available from the U.S. Census Bureau. The area’s payroll totaled more than $61 billion in 2009, according to an analysis from On Numbers. View article…
